LotD: Mahathir Mohamad

Today’s Line of the Day is brought to us by the former prime minister of Malaysia.  Mr. Mohamad contends that 9/11 was staged, because after all…

If they can make Avatar, they can make anything.

And, much like 9-11, it was totally unnecessary and gives a clear insight into the great failings of a culture’s ideology.

Sadly, it is far easier to commit atrocities and terrorist attacks than it is to make a modern movie. Mr. M’s sentiments are shared by many around the world – including holocaust deniers and those who think the moon landings were staged (without the reference to Avatar I assume) – all well thought and well rounded people.

Although, I’m pretty sure James Cameron staged that Titanic disaster too, especially Kate Winslet falling for DiCaprio…

Well said coach. Avatar was a sad commentary. Not everyone agrees with me, but I really didn’t like the major themes, political statements, and ideology hidden in this movie. I don’t think people should separate that from the rest of the film and just cherry pick what they like to justify the film (i.e. well, it had really good special effects, etc, so I liked it.)

      Wow Aaron,
That is an intensely interesting – if somewhat techie – addition to this conversation.
